DR. ABDOLLAH MALEK: Neck lift is an absolutely wonderfully operation. And the reason that is so wonderful is that many times very young people, even in the teens, they have very heavy necks. And some component of that is genetic, and some component of that is dietary. And the second important thing about the neck is that the neck again is a very visible part of the face. You will not be able to cover the neck with the clothes and in our face the neck and the lips are extremely visible.

And the new techniques are absolutely wonderful. Every time I see patients like that I get excited about that because I know they are going to just love their result. Procedures are done with a few small incisions. We use a combination of removal of the fat, especially in the area right around the neck which is located behind the chin and above the sternum. And this allows the neck to be defined and also the jaw line to be more sculptured. In many, many occasions we may actually tighten up the muscle at the same time. This procedure can be done under local anesthesia with a small amount of sedation. Patients usually can go back to work in a few days and the result is extremely, extremely exciting and this is one of those - - that we can do very simply. And what’s beautiful about this is that you can do it in very young people that they are a little bit genetically heavy neck and they will benefit from that with very minimal cost and a minimal amount of time out of work.
