DR. ABDOLLAH MALEK: There are a variety of tissue fillers available. And to summarize that, the tissue fillers, many of them have come and many of them have gone and our techniques have improved into better and more patient’s friendly tissue fillers. One of the very good ones available and well tested is Restylane. Similar to that is Juvaderm and Perlane which are available in the market. Generally we do not have to test with Restylane which used to be in the other forms we have to test. The majority of these tissue fillers can last between four to five months but we have seen longer results with these. The beauty of that is that they are done with very small amount of ice pack. In situations that someone wants to have the upper lip, the lower lip, their cupids bow which is nice curve on top of the lips as well as and we can actually give them a small amount of local anesthesia so the lips will be numb and they will not fill any discomfort. That is actually my favorite way of doing it. It takes a few minutes and then they will not have any pain during the procedures. And we can also distribute their medications or fillers into smaller particles so it will be nice and soft and uniform.

I have a saying always to my patients that if they don’t like their result, they can tell me that probably they need a little bit more because how much someone wants to have their lips filled is a personal choice. If someone wants to say that I just want it to be a little bit fuller, someone says no I want to go to the party and I want to be noticed. So everybody is different and we can custom make that for them.
