DR. ABDOLLAH MALEK: Mini tucks are referred to a modification of the tummy tuck. And they are basically are reserved for the patients that have a specific or smaller area of concern. For example, if someone has a small amount of redundancy of the lower abdomen between the belly button and the mons pubis area that could be beautifully controlled with a combination of the suction and the removal of the skin. And through the same incision we can go and tighten up the muscles to achieve the purpose of tightening of the muscle, removing the fat, and making the abdomen flatter, and as well as give them a very small incision above the pubic area. And that term basically defines the mini tuck.

But as is obvious, the mini tuck depends upon patient’s expectations and patients anatomy and their problems. Someone who has a lot of skin hanging, obviously to get a good scar, we are exchanging a little bit longer incision with a nice contoured abdomen. So sometimes we have to discuss with the patients that what is their main point of concern. So with a mini tuck, we can modify the length of the incision and in many, many times achieve a lot of results that we want through this smaller incision. But then again, we have to balance that versus the patient’s expectations and patients area of concern.
